Mission Statement

The Council on Aging mission is to foster an atmosphere of wellness by addressing the emotional, social, physical and often, spiritual needs of individuals and their families during the aging process. Our focus is to enhance the quality of life and promote independence through the sharing of information, programming, services, and referrals to appropriate agencies.

Transportation

SOCIAL ESSENTIAL TRANSPORTATION (SET)

The COA has 3 handicapped accessible vehicles, an 8 and 10 passenger van and a 14 passenger bus offering curbside transportation for social activities, shopping, events etc. Transportation service is available to any senior requesting a ride Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00pm. Availability depends on activities and trips scheduled by the COA.

Requests are to be called into the transportation line, 508-359-3665 X200 with 24 hour notice.

MEDICAL ESSENTIAL TRANSPORTATION (MET)

Door to Door transportation for regularly scheduled medical appointments through the COA Volunteer Driver Program or the COA vehicles. MET requests are handled through the Volunteer Coordinator at 508-359-3665.

Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide transportation, and certain policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.

Transportation policies are adhered to for the safety of both the senior and the volunteer.

Please, remember the COA requires a minimum of 5 working days for MET requests in order to secure a driver. For information on this MET program call 508-359-3665.

FOXFIELD TAXI

Foxfield Taxi Corporation offers round trip transportation service for Medfield residents into Boston on Wednesday mornings. A voluntary and confidential donation is requested and the suggested amount per round trip is $25.00. For more information or to reserve a ride,                         call 1-800-585-8294 and a 24 hour notice is required.

THE RIDE

Applications for “THE RIDE” from the MBTA are available at the COA office or by calling 617-222-5123. After approval, for those with a mental or physical disability and unable to drive or use public transportation, ride requests can be scheduled by calling “ The RIDE ” at 617-449-9420.
